Pregnancy Week 20

I've officially made it halfway through my pregnancy. I'm feeling great. E and I are getting on our feet in our new home. I just applied for a job and I have been hired. I'm  very excited to start on December 6th.
I went in at 9 am that morning. I was starting my training with the manager. That morning I had a good breakfast but was feeling a little off.
To my surprise not thirty minutes into my first day did I start feeling really really bad. I started to feel hot and flustered. My eyes started to go dark and I knew if I didn't sit down I was going to faint.
I asked my manager if I could sit down and the next thing I remember is waking up on the ground in my managers arms with her repeatedly saying "it's ok sam, it's ok."
That was scary. My mind started racing. They tell you, and when you read, fainting while pregnant is not very good. Something could be terribly wrong. I hadn't seen a doctor since before we left California and I was 14 weeks pregnant.
My manager called my mom and my mom called my mother in law and E. We went straight to the hospital.
While there we got to see a new doctor (who later became my new OB and is super fantastic). He checked me out asked me a ton of questions and then sent us for our 20 week anatomy sono.
During the first check up with him we found out the fainting was most likely caused from dehydration. Not a surprise for me, I'm chronically dehydrated ALL THE TIME! He went ahead and measured my belly and I was measuring a week behind ( I was tiny).

When we went to our sono appointment we were lucky because the sono tech is our cousin. So we got tons of pictures of baby girl (who is still nameless). Baby looked great and Thank God the doctor was correct and the fainting was from dehydration and that baby girl was perfect!!
But since we know our cousin so well, we were able to read her face and noticed she kept going over and over the babies heart. Of course she couldn't tell us. But I knew that that next Monday I would be receiving a phone call from Doc to tell me some sort of bad/scary news.

But at least over the weekend we could enjoy looking at her 20 week profile pictures.

I was right and that next Monday I received a phone call from our new doctor (did I mention he was/is amazing?)

The found a spot on her heart called a Golf ball. It's a marker for Down Syndrome. His next plan of action was to send us to Midland (a bigger hospital with better equipment) for a 4D sono to check on baby. He mentioned other testing but I refused.

At this point it didn't matter if this baby girl had DS. She was perfect.

But of course I was fighting with insurance, and we weren't able to get to Midland to see the other doctor until late January.

When we got to go to that doctor for that sono E didn't get to go, but my mom and best friend were able to. We went in and the sono tech did the sono. She was sweet and printed us some pictures of baby girl.

Then we went into the doctors office. This was a scary visit. As soon as he started talking I started shaking. My mom was just about in tears. He started talking about all the different abnormalities she could have. He focused mostly on the one where they don't live outside the womb for longer than days or weeks. I can't remember which number it was. Then he stopped, pointed his finger at me and said "your baby is perfect and has nothing wrong with her. We do see the golf ball but your baby doesn't have DS or any other abnormality."

We drove back home feeling wonderful. She would have been perfect either way. But our baby girl doesn't have DS.

She looks like her daddy in this sono Picture.

Baby Girl's Nursery Part 1

The house that E and I rented was the house that my mom and I lived in when I was an itty bitty baby, and then when I was in 3rd grade through 6th grade my family lived in it again. The landlord is a wonderful lady by the name of Olive. She is like a second grandmother to me.

The house is very old and over the past few years and many other renters after my family and before my new little family has been through lots of damage and just not taken care of.

The first few pictures are of the floor. Its old wood flooring that has been painted over, carpeted over, carpet was ripped out, repainted over and just not taken care of.
It was ugly!!

You can see in this picture E has started to sand it down.

Once E spent a week sanding the floors down (he did babys room and the spare bedroom) He bought stain and he fixed them right up. It looks amazing!!

Ryleigh's dresser was given to us by a friend. It didn't match her crib at all and I needed to sand it down and then paint it to match.

I also bought new handles and it looked fantastic!! I was impressed with myself.

We also bought one of those cube things from target for her room for her toys and books. I got to put that together. Thanks to E for the pics haha!!

E was getting ready to move it and I decided to sneak a few pictures hahaha

Pregnancy Week 21 through Week 25

Week 21 went by so fast. I didn't feel any different. But I was just anxious to find out about baby's heart and the golf ball.

 Week 22:

Baby is the size of a Papaya. She moves so much. The only symptoms I have are swollen feet and hands, mostly from all the sodium. I'm always hungry and I'm over emotional.

Week 23:

Baby is the size of a grapefruit. She moves all the time and sleeps when I sleep unless I don't feel her. Only my feet and hands are swollen by the end of the day. I crave milk. That is all I want. Chocolate milk, regular milk, cereal milk, just milk. I'm doing better as far as my water intake.

Week 24:

Baby is the size of a cantaloupe. Pregnancy symptoms I have this week are leg cramps, tiredness, and swollen feet and hands. Baby girl is still nameless. This was also my last pregnancy picture for 2013.

Week 25:

Baby is the size of a cauliflower. She has slept a bunch this week and worried me a bit. But she is still there and still good to go. ;-)

(I am still catching up. I know these are from December 2013-April 2014, and we are now at the new year of 2-15. I logged all of this in my pregnancy book as well as on instagram.)

Sunday Funday; 4 Mile Hike

I've been itching to go on a hike for a while now. I was able to talk one of my friends Janae into going on one today. I was very excited about it and when I woke up it was windy out so I was worried we weren't going to be able to go. But after a phone call and checking the weather we decided to go.

We headed up to the Davis Mountains State Park a few miles north of Fort Davis, Texas. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shinning and the wind wasn't real bad. Janae let me pick the hiking trail and I picked a hike I felt wasn't too easy (so I don't bore poor Nae), and not too hard to put me into labor haha.

Of course as soon as we start the hike it doesn't take long for me to fall short of breath. LOL. Oh well pregnancy problems haha.

It was up a mountain and then back down a mountain. We got to see beautiful views of the Davis Mountains and some of West Texas. It was absolutely breath taking. (thats why I was short of breath haha)

I really enjoyed myself. The company and girl talk was perfect for a Sunday. Just what I needed.

Just a few pictures from the hike. Of course there are zero of myself because I carry the camera and I hardly ever let someone take a photo of me. But when I got home today I was bummed I didn't take a photo with Janae, and have her take just one of me with a pretty view behind me. Haha. I need to get better about asking for that. I'm sure we will got on another hike!! I enjoyed it too much not to.

I'm going to say real quick I am 26 weeks pregnant. I am going to catch up with the weekly posts but I wanted to take a break from that and post about this fun day I had. I mention I'm 26 weeks because at week 22 I was finally cleared from week 7's scare. It was great to finally be able to do something I enjoy.
